Hills Hornsby Rural Koala Project (HHRKP) was established in 2018 by local community and environment groups. At the early meetings were Pat Schwartz, Dennis Merchant, Lilly Schwartz, Dr Michelle Ryan, Graeme Edwards, Kaye Fitzpatrick, Jo Hebden (macropod carer) Jocelyn Howden (Hawkesbury Environment Network), Sue Martin (Cattai Hills Enivronment Network), Di Coxon-Ellis (Glenorie Progress Association, Deputy Mayor of Hornsby at that time Michael Hutchence, Lyn Liston.
The group has been coordinated by Lilly Schwartz and has seen many new volunteers come and go. Lilly grew up in Maroota Forest between Glenorie and Maroota and has a life long passion for the flora and fauna of the region.
